Should I dry brush my face?
There are certainly potential benefits to dry brushing all parts of the body, including the face, however, our Exfoliating Body Brush is probably not the best fit. The bristles are stiff and could disrupt the acid mantle of the skin of the face. If you're interested in trying out facial dry brushing, we recommend using our Lotus Wood Exfoliating Brush and being gentle on the skin. If excess dryness starts to happen, back off.
How often should I dry brush?
This can range from person to person. Because our bristles are less stiff than others, we recommend using it daily. A quick dry brush of the body before your daily shower can do wonders! Let your skin be your guide. While body brushing is effective, too much can disrupt the acid mantle and interfere with normal oil production, making skin dry. If this happens, simply back off to 2-4 times a week!
How often should I replace this brush?
We recommend replacing it every 6-12 weeks, depending on how frequently you use it!
How do I clean this brush?
Make sure any debris is shaken from the brush. Fill the sink or pan just an inch or 2 with water and a few drops of tea tree oil. Soak one side for 10-15 minutes and then rotate for the other side, without submerging the base of the bristles completely (this can deteriorate the glue faster). For a deeper clean, use our Rosemary Peppermint Hand and Body wash under running water and clean brush. Lay flat to dry.
Do I use this brush on wet or dry skin?
Dry skin is ideal in order to most successfully slough off any dead skin cells.
Is it best to use this morning or evening?
Either are perfectly fine! However, because this practice is energizing and stimulating, we recommend brushing first thing in the morning before showering.
How much pressure should I use?
Picture the weight of a quarter resting on the back of your hand. That is all the amount of pressure that it takes to stimulate lymphatic flow and/ or drainage. You will want some pressure, but probably less than you might think!
What product should I pair this with?
Do I have to shower immediately after?
You do not, but it is recommended!
What do you mean by the word "treatment?"
When you see the word "treatment" here at Annmarie Skin Care, we are not advising a healing remedy to some sort of ailment. We simply are using this word to better explain the application and use of a particular product for cosmetic / beauty purposes.
